Azerbaijan will introduce new methods of certification and labeling of seeds in accordance with international standards this year, Trend reports referring to chairman of the Azerbaijani Agro Services Agency Mirza Aliyev.
"The seeds are cleaned, packaged and labeled,” Aliyev said. “The label contains the information about them and the manufacturer's data. Then samples from the bags are taken and analyzed. When the results meet the requirements of the standards, the seed batches are certified and the information on the label related to the certification is activated in the system."
“Farmers will be able to automatically receive information on the correctness of certification by using a QR code and a unique code on the label,” chairman said.
"This will help expand access to the local seeds market, provide farmers with qualitative seeds and use certified seeds," Aliyev said.
