BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 22

Trend:

Presently, the construction work is being carried out quickly and efficiently on the section of the Zangazur corridor passing through Azerbaijan, Saleh Mammadov, chairman of the board of the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads, said at a press conference, Trend reports.

“Bridges and tunnels are being built on the road,” Mammadov added. “Some sections of the road in Zangazur corridor are being paved in Azerbaijan. During the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, Armenia destroyed almost all of the infrastructure, including the roads in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur.”

The chairman of the board said that therefore, the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads designed and built 15 roads, the total length of which is 1,516.3 kilometers, in accordance with the orders of victorious Supreme Commander of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, signed to restore the road infrastructure in the Azerbaijani lands liberated from Armenia’s occupation.

“One of the main road infrastructure projects is the construction of the Victory Road,” Mammadov said. “Despite that this two-lane 101 kilometer-road passes through the difficult terrain, it was built within 10 months. The opening ceremony of the road was held on November 7, 2021 and the president took part in it.”

“This road starts from Ahmadbayli village (149th kilometer of the Hajigabul-Horadiz-Agband-Zangazur main road) and connects Alkhanli village, Fuzuli International Airport, Fuzuli city, Boyuk Taghlar village, Topkhana forest, Dashalty village and Shusha city,” Mammadov added.

“President Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation of the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway during his visit to Shusha on January 14, 2021,” the chairman said. “As other road infrastructure projects being implemented in Karabakh region, the second 81.6 kilometer-highway, having four and six lanes and corresponding to the first technical category, connecting the Fuzuli International Airport with Shusha city, is being built quickly and efficiently.”

Mammadov stressed that the work is being carried out in two shifts to complete the construction of the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway in 2024.

“This road starts from the 157th kilometer of the Hajigabul-Horadiz-Agband-Zangazur transport corridor,” the chairman said. “After the construction of bridges and tunnels on it, it will be by 19.4 kilometers shorter than the Victory Road.”

Mammadov said that the Horadiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Agband (Zangazur Corridor) highway is also being built rapidly, the foundation of which was laid by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey.

The chairman said that the 123.6-kilometer-road is being built in accordance with the first technical category.

“It is part of the Hajigabul-Horadiz-Agband-Zangazur corridor and is of great importance in terms of connecting Zangilan with other districts of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic,” the chairman added.

“Moreover, the Toghanali-Kalbajar-Istisu four-lane road (80.7 kilometers), the Kalbajar-Lachin two-lane road (72.8 kilometers), two lane road infrastructure in Kalbajar and Lachin districts (726.3 kilometers), Khudaferin-Gubadly-Lachin four-lane road (70.4 kilometers), Gubadly-Eyvazli two-lane road (28.5 kilometers), Gubadly- Mahmudlu-Yazyduzu-border with Armenia two-lane road (26.4 kilometers), Shukurbayli-Jabrayil-Hadrut four-lane road (39.7 kilometers), Fuzuli-Hadrut four-lane road (12 kilometers), Hadrut-Tugh- Azikh two-lane road (22 kilometers), Barda-Aghdam four-lane road (44.5 kilometers), Aghdam-Fuzuli four-lane road (64.8 kilometers), Talysh-Tapgaragoyunlu-Gashalti two-lane road (22 kilometers) are being built in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur economic regions,” Mammadov said.
