BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 8. Cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom in the digital economy, including information and communication technologies, has the potential to become socially oriented and help improve the efficiency of providing public services by the ASAN (Azerbaijan Service and Assessment Network) as part of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations, SAMHI (State Agency for Mandatory Health Insurance), and the Azerbaijani Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB), Trend reports.
Such a possibility is being discussed during intergovernmental negotiations, as evidenced by a protocol signed during the meeting of Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom's Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation.
ASAN experts were specifically advised to become acquainted with the experience of UK organizations specializing in design thinking approaches that make public services more citizen-centric.
In terms of advantage for SAMHI and TABIB, it was suggested that they become acquainted with the UK's medical data management knowledge and experience for patient records.
Furthermore, Azerbaijan's top telecom operators were advised to establish partnerships with UK fintech businesses.
It was also recognized as effective to develop IT capacity building in collaboration with UK-registered IT-oriented resources through commercial training and the establishment of transnational education partnerships.
It's also useful to develop collaboration with UK research centers, organizations, and companies in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things, robotics, and other related areas.
One of the protocol clauses concerns issues of ensuring cybersecurity, and in this context, it was recommended to explore collaboration opportunities with UK industry partners and government entities, including the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Cyber Security Service under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, to support the implementation of the Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on information security and cyber security for 2023-2027.
It seems appropriate to expand cooperation in the field of ensuring the security of critical information infrastructure facilities and countering cyber threats.
In general, bilateral cooperation in the field of digital economy, including information and communication technologies, is intended to help Azerbaijani public and private institutions improve their competitiveness by adopting new technologies, such as Al, towards their digital transformation.
