Drilling of three production wells is planned to start at Shah Deniz gas condensate field in 2024, bp's Vice President for Wells (Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye region), Jim O'Leary, told reporters during the conference IADS Drilling Caspian held in Baku, Trend reports.

According to him, drilling operations will be carried out using the Heydar Aliyev drilling rig and the Istiglal drilling rig will be used to complete the wells.

O'Leary mentioned that it would take 365 days to drill and complete all three wells. The works will keep the peak production of this field, which produced 36 bcm of gas last year.

To note, that gas production at Shah Deniz has been underway since December 2006, and about 20 percent of reserves have been recovered. The field's reserves are estimated at 1.2 tcm of gas.
