Some 63,555 people will get the voting right for the first time in Azerbaijan in 2015, Mazahir Panahov, the chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), said.

Some 257 citizens will be 18 years old on the day of voting in the parliamentary election, to be held November 1.

Panahov made this statement at a meeting with representatives of youth organizations of the country, organized by the Youth Foundation under the president of Azerbaijan in connection with the active participation of young people in the parliamentary election.

Panahov urged the youth to actively participate in the parliamentary election.

"The election is an important event in the history of each country," he said. "It is gratifying that today young people who grew up in modern Azerbaijan are among the main voters. By voting in the parliamentary election, you will vote for the future of the country."

"The Azerbaijani youth must value and protect the independence and sovereignty of the country," Panahov said, adding that the future of the country depends on the younger generation.

Panahov said that the Azerbaijani youth, studying abroad, must be also vigilant.

"The foreign forces often use a difficult period in the history of the nations, trying to influence the younger generation and interfere in the internal affairs of the country," he said.

Azerbaijani president's aide for public and political affairs Ali Hasanov, Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, leaders of youth organizations of the country and others attended the meeting.
