Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Huseynli / We do not believe in a settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh after the latest visit of OSCE's Minsk Group's co-chairmen to the region, Nhizami Bahramov, the head of the Public Union 'Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno-Karabakh', said on 19 September.

The Minsk Group co-chairs visited the region from 16 to 19 September. Positions of both countries' Presidents were approached, the co-chairmen said during a press-conference dedicated to the results of the visit to the region.

Bernard Fassier, the French co-chair, said that two or three details are still not agreed. Yuri Merzylakov, the Russian co-chair, noted that the Russian Federation recognized the Nagorno-Karabakh as integral territory of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Meetings between the Azerbaijani and Armenian communities are necessary for resolving the conflict.

The conflict between the two countries of South Caucasus started in 1988 due to territorial claims by Armenia against Azerbaijan. Armenia has occupied 20% of Azerbaijan including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and its seven surrounding Districts. Since 1992, these territories have been under the occupation of the Armenian Forces. In 1994, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement at which time active hostilities ended. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group ( Russia, France and USA) are currently holding peaceful negotiations.
