Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The actions of the OSCE and Minsk Group established by the OSCE did not yield any results in settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Chairman of the Adalat Party, Ilyas Ismaylov, said at the Karabakh forum organized by the Union for Democracy on 25 September.
He considers that Azerbaijan should not hope for international organizations in restoring its territorial integrity, but resolve the problem themselves.
Highlighting Armenia as a terrorist country, Azerbaijan should begin to fight against it, said the Chairman of 'Our Azerbaijan' political bloc, Vugar Beyturan. He stressed Azerbaijan is a partner of the USA in international anti-terror operations and Washington has repeatedly confirmed this.
The Head of the National Renascence Movement, Faraj Guliyev, said that the occupation problem of Azerbaijani lands should not be presented as an Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and expression needs to be removed. Guliyev said that official Baku should sign a Memorandum on Nagorno-Karabakh between the government and community of Azerbaijan.
According to the Chairman of the Taraggi Party, Chingiz Demiroglu, the Nagorno-Karabakh expression should not be used because there is no such administrative territory. He considers that there needs to be a change in political power in order to restore the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The Union for Democracy suggests devising a Conception of Solution for Certain Period and carry out anti-terror operations in occupied Azerbaijani territories. According to the co-chair of the Union, Mirmahmud Miralioglu, the problem should be resolved in other ways because peaceful talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan have not yielded results.
The conflict between the two countries of South Caucasus began in 1988 due to territorial claims by Armenia against Azerbaijan. Armenia has occupied 20% of Azerbaijani land including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and its seven surrounding Districts. Since 1992, these territories have been under the occupation of the Armenian Forces. In 1994, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement at which time active hostilities ended. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group ( Russia, France and USA) are currently holding peaceful negotiations.
