The US Assistant Secretary of State, Daniel Freed, said that Washington will insist on the issue that Kosovo can not be precedent for the settlement of other conflicts, Mediamax reports.
"Firstly the Kosovo case is unique because anywhere more in the world, the UNO does not manage the territory in accordance with the resolution of the Security Council. As there is not such case anywhere, it is clear that this can not be precedent," Freed said.
"We consider that Kosovo can not be precedent for South Osetia, Abkhazia, Pristina, Corsica, Texas. We will insist on it. We want to work together with our European friends so that it is not used as precedent. We hope that Russia will regulate it in a way that Kosovo will not be precedent," he said.
Freed said that Russia does not have grounds to think of stability in South Caucasus and possible outbreak of the violence. "Naturally we want to work with Russia on the general agenda, but we are surprised that Russia supports several separatist enclaves," the diplomat said.
"We would never flirt with the separatists in Russia. If any separatist group in Russia begins to put forward demands based on the Kosovo case, we will immediately and decisively reject them. We support Russia's territorial integrity and expect it to do the same which was done with regards to Georgia and Moldova," Freed said.
"Each country has dolts in South Caucasus and these dolts may bring many harms. However it is not justification because all sides have dolts. The responsible Governments should work together to keep these dolts from bringing us to bad situations. We want to work with Russia for this purpose," the US diplomat said.
