Soldier of Azerbaijani National Army Dies

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 March / corr. Trend E. Huseyinli, K. Zarbaliyeva/ The break in ceasefire by the Armenian armed forces on the morning of 4 March has resulted in the death of one of the soldiers of the National Army of Azerbaijan.

According to the regional correspondent of Trend , Guliyev Movlud Habib oglu, resident of Zagatala region of Azerbaijan, died from wounds he received as a result of the fire. Guliyev was called up for active service in January 2007 by the Military Commissariat of Zagatala region of Azerbaijan.

The Ministry of Defense refused to comment in this regard.

The conflict between the two countries of the South Caucasus began in 1988 due to Armenian territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Since 1992, Armenian Armed Forces have occupied 20% of Azerbaijan including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and its seven surrounding districts. In 1994, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement at which time the active hostilities ended. The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group ( Russia, France, and the US) are currently holding peaceful negotiations.
