Baku rejects reports on plans to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict via Turkish mediation.
"Azerbaijan is not designing any secret plans to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Khazar Ibrahim told Trend .
Turkey's Hurriet newspaper said an action plan was put together with Turkish mediation to resolve the Nargorno-Karabakh conflict.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.
Azerbaijan is holding negotiations to resolve the conflict within the OSCE Minks Group and is committed to resolving the issue based on international principles and its territorial integrity, Ibrahim said.
Hurriet reported that Armenia is ready to return 6 occupied regions to Azerbaijan. Armenia agreed to leave the regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh and later return Fuzuli, Agdam, Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan, the newspaper reported.
According to the newspaper, Azerbaijan will open all land and railway communications with Armenia. International peacekeeping forces will be deployed between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. The peacekeepers will not include forces of the conflicting sides, Hurriet reported.
