Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia organizes commemorative ceremony on Khojali Genocide

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia organized events to commemorate the Khojali Genocide together with Azerbaijani public organizations in Georgia.

The "Korpu" performance was shown at the K. Marjanishvili Tbilisi State Dramatic Theater as part of the events commemorating the genocide victims. Azerbaijanis from Tbilisi, Gardabani and Marneuli and Georgian governmental officials attended, the embassy said on Feb. 26.

On Feb. 25, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Namig Aliyev, Georgian Parliamentary Vice Speaker Paata Davitaya, the Georgian Parliamentary Health and Social Protection Committee chairman and Georgian National Academy of Sciences president, embassy officials, representatives of Azerbaijani companies in Georgia and Azerbaijani member of parliament Ganira Pashayeva and local Azerbaijani activists attended the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition commemorating the victims of the genocide at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's Literary and Cultural Center in Tbilisi.

Aliyev spoke about the genocide. Afterwards, participants studied the photos and official documents about the genocide. Books about the tragedy were also distributed among the guests.

On Feb. 26, events were held at the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Georgia and at Secondary School No. 64 in Tbilisi to commemorate the victims of the genocide.
