Council of Europe and all other parties are interested in the swift settlement of frozen conflicts, in particular Nagorno-Karabakh, Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar said during a press conference after handing over the Committee of Ministers chairmanship to Switzerland.
"First of all, I should say that all frozen conflicts, in particular Nagorno-Karabakh, should be settled as soon as possible," he said. "All parties, including the Council of Europe, are interested. We have seen this during the Russian-Georgian war last year. Frozen conflicts can turn into a hot spot within period of time, which equals more danger."
The Slovenian FM said the Council of Europe can create favorable conditions to speed up the settlement process.
"The Council of Europe can do a lot to create favorable ground to speed up the process," he said. "The Council of Europe can also assist in strengthening inter-regional cooperation in the South Caucasus. The Eastern Partnership between the Council of Europe and South Caucasus and other countries was established for this reason. We expect reforms and development from these nations."
