A film 'Garadagli Genocide' about the genocide committed by Armenians in the Garadagli village in Azerbaijan was presented at the headquarters of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor, Lieutenant-General Khanlar Veliyev said not only the world community, but our society has not been well informed about the Garadagli tragedy.
"We need to bring these realities to the world. Therefore, these films have to be translated into English language," Veliyev said. He said "we must learn from the history".
The events in the Garadagli village were Armenian's preparation to commit genocide in the Khojali region, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov said. "Unfortunately, the atrocities in the Garadagli were not a lesson for the then leadership of the country," Hasanov said.
He said the film is very important for the Azerbaijani public. A 10 -12-minute version of the film will be prepared in 5-6 languages, given the requests of the international community, Hasanov said.
On the night of Feb. 17, 1992, Armenian gangs attacked the Garadagli village in the Khojavend region of Azerbaijan, killing and capturing local residents. Forty-seven hostages were taken in Khankendi, where they were subjected to the most brutal tortures for a long period. Garadagli is located between Khankendi and Khojavend. The village had 800 houses.
