The Azerbaijani Army will demonstrate its full power on June 26, the First Vice-Speaker, Chairman of the Security and Defence Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafet Askerov said on Tuesday.

Commenting on the information spread in the Armenian press that as though the military parade on June 26 in Azerbaijan will be held to call for war, Askerov said it is not a call to war, and with that, Armenia only attempts to diminish the authority of Azerbaijan in the international arena. "The whole world knows that June 26 is a day of Azerbaijani Armed Forces, which is annually celebrated," said Askerov.
Askerov said conducting military parades is the sovereign right of any country.
"The Azerbaijani people have to see what power its army has, should be proud of it and be sure that the army is able to liberate the occupied lands," said Askerov.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994.
The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
