A terrible accident took place in the Alibayli village of Azerbaijan's Tovuz district bordering with Armenia. The blast of an explosive device killed Shahmalyeva Aygun, born in 1998, and heavily wounded her mother Shahmalyeva Elnara, born in 1979, in the hip.

A terrible accident took place in the Alibayli village of Azerbaijan's Tovuz district bordering with Armenia. The blast of an explosive device killed Shahmaliyeva Aygun, born in 1998, and heavily wounded her mother Shahmaliyeva Elnara, born in 1979, in the hip.

The toy like a dog, with an explosive device, was dropped by the Armenian side into the Tovuz River flowing through the village of Alibeyli.

Jafarov Elsevar and Aygun Shahmalyieva , who were playing near the river, brought the toy to the house of Hasan Jafarov. When Aygun Shahmalyeva played at home and put the toy on the table, the device worked and blast occurred.

The family of Shahmalyevs lives in Russia, St. Petersburg. Family members came to visit their relatives in the Alibayli village.

Tovuz prosecutor's office investigates the fact.

The same incident took place in this territory in 1994. Two young children were killed and one was wounded when the toy sailed from Armenia exploded.
