Over the past 24 hours, Armenian armed forces 143 times violated the ceasefire on various parts of the contact line between the troops of Azerbaijan and Armenia, said Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry March 20.
Azerbaijani positions located in the villages of Qushchu Ayrim, Kemerli, Qizilhajili, Farahli, Qaymaqli of the Qazakh district and Kohneqishlaq of the Agstafa district were shot by Armenians stationed in the villages of Berkaber, Paravakar of Armenia's Ijevan district, Voskevan, Dovekh, Barekamavan, Shavarshavan of the Noyemberyan district.
Armenian military stationed in the villages of Chinari, Aygepar, Mosesgeh of Armenia's Berd district opened fire at the Azerbaijani army positions in the villages of Agbulaq, Kokhanebi, Alibayli, Aghdam of the Tovuz district.
Azerbaijani army positions, located on nameless heights in Azerbaijan's Gadabay district, were fired at by Armenians stationed on nameless heights in Armenia's Krasnoselsk district.
Armenian army also opened fire from positions near Gulustan village of the Goranboy district, Yarimja, Chilaburt, Goyarkh, Chayli, Seysulan villages of the Tartar district, Novruzlu, Javahirli, Sarijali, Shuraabad, Kangarli, Yusifjanli, Shikhlar, Bash Garvand villages of the Aghdam district, Kuropatkino village of the Khojavand district, Garakhanbeyli, Horadiz, Gorgan, Ashagi Seyidahmadli, Ashagi Abdurrakhmanli villages of the Fizuli district and Mehdili village of the Jabrayil district.
Armenians also opened fire upon the Azerbaijani army positions from the nameless heights in the Goygol, Goranboy, Khojavand, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.
Azerbaijani Armed Forces inflicted 146 strikes upon Armenia's positions.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
