AZERBAIJAN'S PRESIDENT HELD MEETING ON REFUGEES

President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev held a meeting on 21 June, dedicated to the discussion of the refugees and IDPs problems, Trend reports.

The head of the state said, that this problem is the most painful and critical for Azerbaijan and the country's leadership undertake serious efforts in this direction. According to Aliyev, negotiations are held with the Armenian side, aimed at the peaceful regulation of the Upper Karabakh conflict and returning of refugees to their homelands. But no concrete results have been achieved so far and the main reason for that is the non-constructive position, taken by Armenians, Aliyev added.

He noted, that the world public and institutions did not take any resolute steps to condemn the occupant country. Along with this, the firm position of Azerbaijan on this issue finds positive response with the world public and the just demands of Azerbaijan, settlement of the problem based on the international law find wide support. President stressed, that the OSCE Minsk group became more active, certain progress at talks is observed.

Aliyev touched upon the issue of the new villages for refugees and IDPs, built on the account of the State Oil Fund and underlined, that there must be no refugee camp in the country. According to him, instructions were given to carry out works on improvement of refugees' living conditions in Agdam, Saatli, Sabirabad, Baku and other places.

Vice-Premier, chairman of the State Committee on Refugees, Ali Hasanov, informed the meeting's participants of the work, being currently done. He also reported, that a 4-band book has been prepared, in which the occupation policy of Armenia against Azerbaijan, pursued since 1988, heavy situation with the refugees and IDPs, damage, inflicted as the result of occupation, are reflected in the book.
