AGENDA OF HEARING ON THE CONFLICT OVER THE NAGORNO-KARABAKH REGION PUBLICIZED

The second hearing of the PACE Ad Hoc Committee on Nagorno-Karabakh will be held in Paris on 12 September. In accordance with the agenda of the gathering, publicized by the CE Secretariat at 09.30 [local hours] opening remarks to the hearing will be made by Lord Russell-Johnston, Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee.

He will be followed by Dennis Sammut, Executive Director of the London Information Network on Conflicts and State-Building (LINKS, who will speak about the historical background of the conflict.

After Varoujan Nersissian, Head of Department on OSCE, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Armenia, and Araz Azimov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Azerbaijan, will the position of the parties concerned.

Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office on the Conflict Dealt with by the OSCE Minsk Conference,

Ambassador Bernard Fassier, France, Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, Ambassador Yuri Merzlyakov, Russian Federation, Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, as well as John Crosby, Office of the Special Negotiator for Eurasian Conflicts, Department of State, the United States will speak about the efforts taken by the mediators.

Ad Hoc Committee on the implementation of paragraph 5 of Resolution 1416 (2005) on the conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region was formed in June session of the PACE.

Goran Lennmarker, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Special Representative on Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict, as well as the Heads of national parliamentary delegations of the countries which are members of the Minsk Group, will also address to the gathering.

Heikki Talvitie, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus

Discussion, will deal with the EU position in the issue.

The hearing will last till 17.00 [local hours].
