Saudi gov't to allot $50,000 for mine action in 2 Azeri districts

The Saudi government will allocate $50,000 for mine actions in the territory of Terter and Agstafa districts of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan national Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Trend.

It will come as the first stage of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and ANAMA. On 1 February ANAMA will host a ceremony of awarding funds to the national agency. The funds will be allocated by the Saudi Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Ali Hassan Jafar.

According to ANAMA, one of the major aspects of mine action in Azerbaijan is their existence in yards and dwelling areas, which represents danger for population. Assistance by Saudi government will be directed to the implementation of two project linked with the demining of areas.
