( dpa ) - The presenter of a popular BBC television programme for children has been arrested after a woman, believed to be his girlfriend, was found dead in the bath of the London home they shared, Scotland Yard said Friday.

Mark Speight, who is in his 40s, was released on bail after questioning. He was arrested at the home he shared with Natasha Collins, also a TV presenter, in north London late Thursday.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said police had been called to investigate the "sudden death of a woman" at a residential address in the district of St John's Wood.

The BBC has not commented on the case. Speight has run the BBC's children's show SMart for more than 10 years, and also presented other programmes, some together with Collins, who was in her 30s.
