The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry has disseminated information about an explosion in an underground gas storage facility in the Hajigabul region.
An explosion took place on the Kalmaz underground gas storage facility located in the Atbulag village in the Hajigabul region during welding work at the storage facility at 1:45 pm on May 1.
The gas storage facility's worker, Arif Bashirov, died from his injuries. Anar Tarlanov, Vagif Shafiyev and Babak Gayibov were injured. The injured individuals hospitalized.
The fact is under investigation.
The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has disseminated official information in connection with the incident.
An explosion took place at the Kalmaz gas storage facility of SOCAR's Gas Storage Facilities Department on May 1.
The explosion took place resulting from the failure of the internal structure of the separator during the elimination work when replacing obsolete separators by new ones as part of expansion work carried out at the Kalmaz gas storage facility.
As a result of the explosion, Arif Bashirov, a foreman of the 5th construction and assembly department of the "Neftegazstroy" Trust, died. The department's fitter Vagif Shafiyev injured.
SOCAR has established a special commission to investigate the explosion.
