Iranian citizens detained in Azerbaijan on drug smuggling charges

Two Iranian citizens, 34-year-old Dushter Shamseli and 32-year-old Davud Nouri, who were trying to illegally smuggle a large batch of drugs to Azerbaijan have been detained as a result of action carried out by the main department for combating drugs under the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry.

Two Iranian citizens, 34-year-old Dushter Shamseli and 32-year-old Davud Nouri, who were trying to illegally smuggle a large batch of drugs to Azerbaijan have been detained as a result of action carried out by the main department for combating drugs under the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry.

According to the Interior Ministry, about 10 kilograms of hashish, as well as a dagger have been found. During the preliminary interrogation, Shamseli and Nouri said they had intended to give drugs to several unknown individuals in the Bilasuvar region in return for $10,000.

A criminal case has been filed and both detainees have been involved in the investigation as the accused.

Law enforcement bodies are continuing to operate to detain and prosecute other members of a transnational criminal gang.
