INCIDENT ON CHECK-POINT В"LAGODEHIВ" HAS NO CONNECTION TO AZERBAIJANIS, EMBASSY OF AZERBAIJAN TO GEORGIA TOLD TREND

The incident, happened the last night on the Azerbaijani-Georgian border, at the Lagodehi check-point has no relation to Azerbaijanis, the first secretary of the Azerbaijan’s Embassy to Georgia Mahmud Akhmedov told Trend.

According to him, on 14 July the Georgian media spread various contradictory reports on the armed clashes between the residents of one of the villages close to the Lagodehi check- point and officials of the financial police. Some of them report, that confrontations occurred between the Azerbaijanis of the Georgian citizenship and the representatives of the finance police.

According to Ahmedov, the Embassy employees communicated with the press service of the Georgian finance police, where they noted, that the incident had not been connected with the Azerbaijanis or Azerbaijan. The press service reports, that residents of the Georgian village of the Georgian nationality were involved in the incident.

Ahmedov said, that data on injured Georgian citizen of the Azerbaijani nationality or their placing in hospitals are not available. Once there is anything of the kind, we would have learnt about it.
