Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Huseynli / The current process within opposition parties, as well as cooperation of the Azerbaijani opposition parties will not affect the democratic presidential elections in 2008, Ali Karimli, the Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), stated.
The Azadlig Bloc stated that they would boycott the forthcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan if no changes were injected into the Election Code of Azerbaijan. Some of the opposition parties, including Musavat, have commented on the importance of opposition parties to participate in the elections. If the opposition parties are not united they will lose the approaching presidential elections.
All Azerbaijani opposition parties, including Musavat and PFPA took part in the Parliamentary elections in 2005. Azadlig Bloc is in communication with the Venice Commission, OSCE and other international organizations in order to hold democratic elections. Azadlig Bloc unites 3 opposition parties, PFPA, Liberal Party of Azerbaijan and Citizen and Development Party.
