Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / A preliminary hearing for the lawsuit of the Unified Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (UAPFP) against the newspaper Khural took place in Narimanov District Court in Baku on 25 September, the chairman of the UAPFP, MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev, told Trend.
The chairman is demanding an apology and a retract of the offensive articles published in Khural.
The newspaper Khalg Jabhasi controlled by Hasanguliyev was the first to publish the offensive articles, the chief editor of Khural, Avaz Zeynalli, said to Trend. According to him, the articles in Khural were a response to Hasanguliyev.
The trial regarding Hasanguliyev's lawsuit will be continue on 26 September. The UAPFP has a constructive position towards the authorities.
Khural refers itself as an independent newspaper, not representing political forces.
