Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr A. Gasimova / Georgian ex-Defence Minister Irakliy Okruashvili has a political reason to accuse President Mikheil Saakashvili, a well-known Georgian political scientist and former spokesman for ex-President Shevarnadze, Ramaz Sakvarelidze, said.

The day before Okruashvili stated on air that the President Saakashvili had talked with him about the possible removal of a well-known businessman, Badri Patarkatsishvili. He also accused the President of daily repressions, destroying houses and churches, robbery, dispossession, assassinations, bluffing, as well as combating corruption for show and accusing only his opponents.

The accusations against the President are too serious and will inevitably affect Saakashvili's image, Sakvarelidze said by phone from Tbilisi on 26 September. "Perhaps, the accusations will not affect the President's image within the country, but his foreign image received a serious blow," he said. According to the political scientist, Okruashvili established opposition 'Unified Georgia' party and will head it. "Thus, the accusations are targeted to improve Okruashvili's image," he said.

As for the accusations regarding the removal of Badri Patarkatsishvili, Sakvarelidze said the accusation cannot be considered grounded for lack of eye-witnesses of the conversation between the President and the ex-Minister. "Two people were speaking, the President and the Minister, without witnesses, any notes, documents. Therefore, the accusation has no legitimacy," the expert said.
