Ruling New Azerbaijan Party not attending Discussions on Election Code

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I.Alizadeh / The ruling New Azerbaijan Party is not attending the discussions concerning changes in the Election Code which is held in the Council of Europe's Baku office. Eleven political parties of Azerbaijan are participating in the discussions.

The Azerbaijani Government holds negotiations with the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe and OSCE on injection changes in the Election Code of the country. Some Azerbaijani political parties take part at the negotiations on the Council of Europe initiative.

The Popular Front Party, Great Establishment Party, Umid, Adalat, Citizen and Development, Azerbaijani National Independent Party, Liberal Party, Democratic Reforms, Musavat, Democratic Party, Open Society Party, OSCE and Baku office of the Council of Europe take part at the discussions.

Huseyn Pashayev, the head of the press-service of the ruling party, said they got to know about the discussions from the opposition newspapers on 5 October.

Discussions are still running behind closed doors.
