Russian Historian, Writer Discovers Azerbaijani Commander’s Execution and Burial Place (video)

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Agayeva / The unique materials about the way of life of the Azerbaijani commander and one of the representatives of Nakhchivan Khans dynasty, Jamshid Nakhchivanski, was included into the new book by the well-known Russian historian Rudolf Ivanov.

The materials about the commander, the author collected in the motherland in Nakhchivan and in the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation. The documents envisage includes the real facts about the life of the commander serving his motherland, as well as the reasons for his detention in 1938, court trial and death.

The book titled 'In the name of the Union of Soviet...' is the monograph about Nakhchivanski. The book tells us about the life of the commander who became victim of repressions.

The author depicts the life of the great son of Azerbaijani population who was illegally arrested three times and sentenced to execution. Ivanov succeed to reveal the documents according to which the death sentence against Nakhchivanski was changed by exile by order of Stalin himself.

The historian managed to define the date of shooting of Nakhchivanski. The incident happened on August 1938. Nakhchivanski was buried in the Communarka-Loza common grave together with many well-known political and military men, Bukharin, Rikov, Karayev, Bunmiatzadeh, Verkhovski, Levandovski and many others.

Ivanov's books about renowned sons of Azerbaijan were issued by the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva, the president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Ambassador to UNESCO and ISESCO.

Professor Rudolf Ivanov wrote 23 books and 200 articles, most of them dedicated to the history of the Russian Empire and Caucasus, the heroic representatives of Caucasian people and their role in protection and prosperity of the Russian Empire.
