Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Ramazanova / The United States hopes the administartion of Iraq and Kurdish regional administartions will prevent PKK terrorists from taking bloody actions, the US Assistant Secretary of State on European and Eurasian Affairs Daniel Fried said at a press conference in Baku on 5 November.
He said he understands the anxiety of the Turkish government bodies and considers their actions to be right. According to Fried, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and George Bush will consider fighting against PKK's terror and cooperation on the issue with Iraqi authorities. There is a threat to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan export line from PKK, he said. "But I am sure that will not happen, as the United States closely cooperates with the countries providing security for the pipeline."
As to radical Islamists, Fried said "The problem of radicalism in Islam persists in several countries, but worshiping Islam and radical groups are completely different things."
