New Consultative Structure of Opposition to be Established Due to presidential Election in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr.S.Ilhamgizi / A new consultative structure of twenty Azerbaijani opposition parties will be established on 26 December, the chairman of the Great Establishment Party MP Fazil Gazanfaroglu stated Sixteen opposition political parties signed an agreement on cooperation on 12th Dec.

Parties take obligation to coordinate their activity in order to reach democracy in pre-election period in Azerbaijan, as well as changes in the Election Code and to provide freedom of speech and political freedom. The agreement was signed by the Open Society, CPFPA, National Independent, Boyuk Azerbaijan, Great Establishment, Umid, Citizen Solidarity, Azadlig, National Democratic parties and four parties united in the Our Azerbaijan bloc and in the Way of Azerbaijan movement.

Gazanfaroglu said that the organizational form and the name of the cooperation will be defined during the round table scheduled for 26th Dec. The new structure is created due to the upcoming presidential election. The structure will stop operating after the presidential elections," Gazanfaroglu stated.

Three opposition parties united in the Azadlig bloc, Popular Front, Citizen and Liberal parties, as well as Musavat, Social Democratic and Adalat parties did not join the agreement signed by sixteen parties.

However, Gazanfaroglu blamed only Azadlig party. "Azadlig did not join an agreement as the party does not have right to hold, meetings or cooperate without permission of the United States," Gazanfaroglu added.
