Solidarity Day of Azerbaijan Marked in Israel

R.Abdullayev / The Azerbaijanis in world and Azerbaijanis by origin should deserve the Azerbaijani culture, language, traditions and mentality, the president of the Congress of Azerbaijanis on the Middle East Alex Shapiro- Suliman stated on the Day of Solidarity of Azerbaijanis in World in Holon , Israel.

According to the president, the Congress as a Diaspora organization stands for the interests of Azerbaijan and cooperation between Israel and Azerbaijan.

"We fulfill our work for Azerbaijani and Jewish nations, which are interconnected on friendship and cooperation issues, Shapiro- Suliman said.

The Vice President of the Congress on Diaspora Rabay Khananayev called mutual relations between the Azerbaijani and Jewish nations as a true example of friendship. Shapiro- Suliman said that the Jewish have been living in Azerbaijan for more than 2,000 year and never be suppressed by the government.

"There has never been anti-Semitism in Azerbaijan," Khananayev said.

"It is very important for us that Azerbaijanis who have been living in Azerbaijan for 10 and 15 years never forget their roots, culture, language, tradition and customs, the Vice-President of the Congress, as well as chair of the Technical Institute in Holon Bakhtiyar Yakubov said.

The Vice president of the Congress, as well as candidate of historical sciences of the Institute in Ben- Tsvi in Jerusalem, said that there is a tolerance between Jewish and Azerbaijanis in the country.

The representative of the North branch of the Congress of Azerbaijanis on the Middle East Babir Namazov calls not to forget blood tragedies the Azerbaijani nation suffered and read his patriotic poem devoted to Azerbaijan, Karabakh tragedy and Azerbaijani population.

Attending the event by the representatives of Azerbaijani Diaspora, Jewish politics and businessmen, MPs, as well as representatives of the Turkish, Georgian and Kazakhstan diplomatic bodies.

The next project by the Congress of Azerbaijanis in World on the Middle East will be opening of the Cultural Centre in Rishon Le Tsion , Israel on 21 January 2008.
