Azerbaijani United Intelligentsia Deny Support of Candidates for Presidential Post from other Political Parties

Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 January / Trend corr. JBabayeva / Eldaniz Guliyev, the chairman of the Azerbaijani United Opposition, said that the intelligentsia will not support the candidates for the presidential post from other political parties.

The presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan on 15 October 2008. Isa Gambar, the chairman of the Musavat party, Igbal Agazadeh, chairman of Umid party, and Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment party, stated their decision to take part in the upcoming presidential elections in the country.

"The intelligentsia of Azerbaijan may support the candidate which may provide democratic reforms on the threshold of the presidential elections," Guliyev said to Trend.

The Azerbaijani United Opposition Intelligentsia was established in 2003. The organization received official registration from the Justice Ministry. The goal of the organization is to protect the rights of Azerbaijani intelligentsia and to reach a truce between the opposition and Authorities.
