Azerbaijan and Japan to Discuss New Possibilities of Energy Co-operation

Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 January /corr. Trend S.Agayeva / The 5th meeting of the Azerbaijani-Japanese Inter-Governmental Commission for Economic Co-operation. The event has been fixed for 25-26 January in Tokyo, the Advisor of Azerbaijan's Embassy in Japan, Gursel Ismailzade, said by telephone from Tokyo on 25-26 February.

Currently work is being held with the governments of the two countries, the agenda of the talks and projects of the documents which will be signed are being devised. A protocol and several economic agreements are expected to be signed as a result of the meeting. Special attention will be paid to the energy co-operation, the advisor said.

Azerbaijan's governmental delegation headed by the Vice Prime Minister, Abid Sharifov, will leave for Tokyo to attend the meeting. From the Japanese side, the Commission is headed by the Vice President of Itocu Company, Akita Yakoto.

The Vice Prime Minister of Azerbaijan plans to hold bilateral meetings with the Japanese Government. The program for the meetings is currently being arranged.
