Organized Gang engaged in Human Trafficking Detained in   Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 February / Trend corr. E.Huseinli / A gang engaged in human trafficking was detained in Azerbaijan.

The Internal Ministry reported to Trend that Yusif Allahverdiyev, Irada Garayeva and Rahim Mammadov, all residents of Baku, were engaged in the sexual exploitation of women in Turkey and were detained as a result of an operation held by officials of the Anti Human Trafficking Department of the Ministry.

In 2007, about 300 people were detained in connection with human trafficking. The number of similar crimes directed against women increased by 55.8% in 2007 as compared to 2006.

Nurana Musayeva, a resident of Sumgayit City of Azerbaijan, and Vusala Babayeva of Samukh region were detained after engaging in human trafficking in Turkey.

An investigation has been launched into the case.
