The USA Highly Assesses Azerbaijan’s Contribution in Fighting against Terrorism

Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 February /corr Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The meeting between the Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Araz Azimov and the US Assistant Secretary of State for Terrorism, Franck Urbanchik, on 14 February focused on the co-operation in fighting against terrorism, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan reported.

The guest highly assessed Azerbaijan's contribution to the international co-operation in fighting against terrorism, particularly in US-held anti-terror operations, and mentioned necessity of continuing this co-operation.

Azimov also highlighted importance of the efforts of the international community in fighting against terrorism. He said that the terrorist organizations also co-operate with each other. From this point of view, each terrorist organization presents threats to the whole international community. Therefore, joint fighting is important. In addition, he stated that this co-operation assumes special importance for Azerbaijan who incurred Armenian terrorism.

He said that the terrorism is linked with the separatism and extremism and brings to prosperity of criminality, illegal turnover of drugs, human and arm trafficking. Azimov said that all these cases makes it necessary to direct all efforts of Azerbaijan and international organizations, including OSCE, NATO, towards this sighting.
