Azerbaijani Opposition Party Refuses from Tactics to Stage Unsanctioned Actions

Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 April / Trend corr. G.Jabiyev / Rasul Guliyev, leader of Open Society Party (OSP), who has been living as an emigrant in the United States for more than ten years, refused from the tactics to stage unsanctioned rallies, Akif Shahbazov, OSP chairman said to Trend .

Guliyev's supporters had held their political activities within the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan. In January 2007, DPA took a new course towards the Government to restore the dialogue with it, but Guliyev's supporters left the party and founded the Open Society Party.

Shahbazov said that the radical political course leads to the withdrawal of people with high intellectual potential from the party and this causes a serious damage. Therefore, we refused from radicalism and started supporting the civil fight.
