Azerbaijan and   Russia Reaches Agreement on Combating Illegal Turnover of Drugs

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 April /corr. Trend J.Babayeva /On 4 April, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement on co-operation in combating illegal turnover of the drugs and psychotropic substances, a source stated at Information and Public Relation Department of Russia's Federal Service for Control on Drug Turnover.

The document was signed during the visit of Azerbaijan's Interior Minister, Ramil Usubov, to St-Petersburg. From the Russian side, the document was signed by the Head of the Federal Service.

During the talks, heads of the two departments stated that the geographical situation forces Azerbaijan to increase attention to the criminal syndicates, interested in transiting drugs and laundering monies gained from the drug business.

According to the document, the co-operation of Russia's Federal Service and Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry will be directed towards holding joint operative measures, developing professional contacts, exchanging experience and realizing the training plans.
