No Information Given of Accident Victims in Egypt : Embassy

Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 May / corr. Trend S. Agayeva/ The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Cairo is making investigations as to whether Azerbaijani citizens were amongst the victims involved in the tourist bus accident in Egypt which took place on 1 May.

At least seven people have died and 16 people were injured when the tourist bus overturned in the morning of 1 May in Egypt, the Egyptian media said.

"We still do not have information as to whether there were Azerbaijani tourists in the bus and we are currently investigating this," Faig Bagirov, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Egypt said to Trend on 1 May.

According to the Egyptian media, the bus carried tourists from Canada, Italy, Russia and Ukraine. The nationalities of those who died or were injured have not been reported as yet.

According to the rescue team, the bus travelling from the renowned Sharm-al-Sheik resort was unable to make a turn causing it to overturn. This resulted in a fire and several passengers receiving serious burns.
