Azerbaijani Oppositional MPs to Set up Study Group on Budget

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 May / corr. Trend I. Alizade/ The MPs presenting opposition in the Azerbaijani parliament will set up a Study Group to study where the resources allocated from the state budget are spent. "The resources allocated by the state budget are not spent in a right way and they are misappropriated," Panah Huseyin, the member of the opposition group of Musavat party said.

The increase in state budget for 2008 was also discussed during the meeting.

According to Huseyin, the state budget is formed from the oil incomes and then it is misappropriated. "The state budget for 2008 envisages rise in the resources allocated for repair and construction works by AZN1.6bln, but is does not indicate on what these resources are spent," he said.

Ziyafat Asgarov, the vice-speaker of the parliament regarded Huseynov's speech to be groundless.
