Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 May / Trend corr. E.Babayev / The members of Political Council of the ruling New Azerbaijan party (NAP) consider that staff changes are required in the party. "There is a need to hold certain reforms within the ruling party," Eldar Ibrahimov, a member of NAP Political Council, stated to journalists on 7 May.
Mubariz Gurbanli, NAP Deputy Executive Secretary, stated to Trend recently that staff and structural changes are expected in the next meeting of the party. NAP meeting is scheduled for summer.
According to Ibrahimov, some party members are serving their sentence in the prisons and some take inactive participation in the party. For these reasons, there is a need to make some staff changes in the framework of the party.
Ali Insanov, former Health Minister of Azerbaijan, and Farhad Aliyev, former Minister of Economic Development, were sentenced to imprisonment and excluded from the party.
NAP was founded in Nakhchivan in 1992. The all-nation leader, the late ex-President Heydar Aliyev was the Party's first Chairman. President Ilham Aliyev is the current chairman of the Party, which has been in power for 14 years.
