Azerbaijan, Baku, 9 May / corr Trend J.Babayeva / On 9 May activists of the Communist Party, the Communist Party of New Generation and the Socialist Party of Azerbaijan held festive events to mark the 63rd anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union in the war from 1941 to 1945.
The communists put flowers at the Monument to Mehdi Huseynzade, the Hero of the Soviet Union, in Baku and appealed the veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
Over 600,000 Azerbaijani participated in the Great Patriotic War, while 300,000 of them died and 120,000 became the Heroes of the Soviet Union.
