Azerbaijani Intellectuals Believe Necessary to Unite Democratic Camp

Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 May / Trend corr. J.Babayeva / The Azerbaijani intellectuals consider it necessary to unite the democratic camp in order to achieve the desired democratic changes in the country. This was said by Eldaniz Guliyev, Chairman of the Union of Azerbaijani Intellectuals, in a round table dedicated to the Election Code and organized by Eldar Namazov, Leader of the Public Forum For Azerbaijan.

Isa Gambar- leader of Musavat party, Sardar Jalaloglu-chairman of Democratic party and Mais Gulmammadov- Chairman of Green party of Azerbaijan, have already nominated their candidature to the presidential post. On 5 May, Eldar Namazov, Head of the Public forum 'For Azerbaijan, stated that he would also nominated his candidature to the presidential post. The candidature of Ilham Aliyev will be nominated from the ruling New Azerbaijan party.

The Azadlig bloc, that unites three opposition parties - Popular Front, Citizen and Development and Liberal, has stated that the bloc would boycott the upcoming presidential elections. Differences happened within the party regarding the presidential elections.

According to Guliyev, no union has been achieved so far despite of all the efforts made. Guliyev believes that the democratic camp will become a democratic force in the country.
