Azerbaijan, Baku, 31 May /corr. Trend M.Aliyev / The Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan, Hidayat Orujov, described groundless the US Department of State's accusations of restrictions in freedom of religion in the Republic.
"The rights of religion of the citizens are fully ensured in Azerbaijan, and the religious organizations may easily receive State registration," Orujov briefed the media in Baku on 30 May.
On 28 May the U.S. Department of State published a report on human rights practices in Azerbaijan. The document highlights deterioration of the situation in the Country in 2007. According to the report, violence is continuing against religious minorities in the Republic.
According to the Head of the State Committee, even the organizations not receiving State registration can freely function in Azerbaijan.
