Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 June / corr. Trend D. Khatinoglu, R. Hafizoglu/ The dialogue should be resumed between Muslims, that is, supporters of Sunnite and Shiite trends in order to end disputes leading to the conflict between them. "The conference on dialogue between the religious trends should be held in all Muslim countries," Heydar Jamal, the Russian theology expert said to Trend .

The conference on dialogue between Islamic trends was held in Saudi Arabia on 3 June. According to BBC, the conference aims at settling conflicts between Sunnites and Shiites. About 500 theology experts participated in the conference.

"The dialogue between the trends should be held not only in Saudi Arabia, but in Iran as well. The dialogue between the trends is the most important and vital for the Islamic world at present," Heydar Jamal, the chairman of Russia's Islam Committee said on a telephone from Moscow. According to Jamal, Muslims should, first of all, end disputes between the trends.

"The Muslim world should put aside various opinions and views between the trends and unite under common principles in order to successfully fight foreign enemies. Otherwise, Islam will face the threat of defeat," Jamal stated. "Of course, the conferences on dialogues between the trends should be held in other Muslim countries as well. One of the good features of this kind of conferences is that they make trends to get familiar with each-other more closely and change the wrong opinions about the other trends," he said.

The theology expert Zahid Gul believes that the conference on dialogue between the religious trends will not yield positive results.

"Unfortunately, the results of such conferences always remain only on the paper," Zahid said to Trend on a telephone from Oman.

According to expert, the parties know that the conference will be fruitless. "At present, small disputes between the trends have been politicized and it is impossible to solve these problems in the conference," he said.

According to Zahid, even if the conference yields certain results, its participants are not going to fulfill them. "It would be better to enlighten the Muslim population about the religion rather than to hold such conferences," he added.

There have bloody conflicts between Sunnites and Shiites duirng last months in Lebanon and Iraq. The confrontations in Lebanon subsided in at the late May due to the mediation of Qatar. However, the situation in Iraq is the same.
