Azerbaijani Opposition Bloc to Make Decision to Hold Action

Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 July /corr. Trend E.Babayev / The meeting of the Assembly of Azadlyg Bloc, which unites three opposition parties, will also focus on holding mass demonstrations. "The Assembly will take place by 15 July and it will also cover the issue of holding mass demonstrations," Ali Aliyev, member of bloc, chairman of Citizen and Development Party, told Trend on 1 July. 

Azerbaijan will host the presidential elections on 15 October. Musavat party has already nominated its Chairman Isa Gambar, Azerbaijan Democratic Party - Sardar Jalaloglu, the Greens Party nominated Mais Gulaliyev, the Popular Front Party of Unified Azerbaijan nominated Gudrat Hasanguliyev and Musair Musavat nominated Hafiz Hajiyev. The head of the public forum For Azerbaijan Eldar Namazov stands for presidency as an independent candidate. The governing New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) will nominate country's current President Ilham Aliyev. Pro-governmental parties Ana Vatan and Social Prosperity Party intend to support Ilham Aliyev at the elections. Bloc Azadlig uniting three opposition parties (Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Citizen and Development Party, Liberal Party) intends to boycott the elections. This intention will be discussed during the assembly and a final decision will be made.

Aliev said that the actions of bloc can take a character of execution of the boycotting decision. "The Assembly will not only make decision on official boycotting, but also will consider steps for the realization of this tactics," he added.
