Day of Diplomats Marked in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan, Baku, 9 July / corr Trend News E.Aliyev / Day of Diplomatic Service is marked in Azerbaijan. The holiday was established at the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's decree dated 24 August 2007.
Temporary instructions on secretariat of the Foreign Ministry were adopted on 9 July 1919 in the ruling period of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), being the first in the Muslim east.
Taking into consideration the role of the national diplomacy in the establishment of ADR the head of state decreed to mark 9 July as the professional holiday of the employees of diplomatic missions of the country.
At present Azerbaijan has diplomatic relation with 16 countries of the world. the diplomatic mission function in 58 countries, whilst embassies of 56 countries, as well as international organization, have been accredited in Baku so far.
