Azerbaijani Party Highlights Resignation in Oppositional Party

Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 July /corr. Trend E.Babayev / Two members of the oppositional Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) stated their intention to give to the resignation from membership of party and to pass to Muasir Musavat Party. "The member of APFP High Assembly, Badalov Aliyusif and member of Agsu district organization of the party, Giyasov Dashgyn, explained their leaving with the fact that the Popular Front could not attain anything for several years, and the false explanations of the head of organization," a source at Muasir Musavat Party told Trend on 14 July.

The Chairman of Muasir Musavat is Hafiz Hajiyev. In 2000 he founded Muasir Musavat Party, and in 2002 party received State registration. The party considers itself constructive opposition with regards to the government.

Oppositional APFP is at present member and co-chairman of Azadlyg political block. The founder and chairman of party until 2000 was the former President of Azerbaijan, deceased Abulfaz Elchibey. Since 2000 up to now the party has been chaired by the former Secretary of State, ex-MP Ali Kerimli.

Muasir Musavat also stated that both members of APFP appealed to Hajiyev for being admitted to the party.

APFP Deputy Chairman, Hasan Kerimov, told Trend on 14 July that the party has not members named Badalov Aliyusif and Giyasov Dashgyn. "We have not such members and statement on behalf of our party is lie," he said.
