Azerbaijan, Lankaran, 28 July / corr. Trend P.Aliyeva / The main objective of the US policy is to ensure the diversification of the energy delivery and partners in the energy sector, Anne Derse, the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan told journalists during his tour of the south region of the country,.
Derse stressed importance of Azerbaijan as an oil producer and as a country providing transit of energy resources. She said that Azerbaijan's proposal on alternative routes for energy delivery would be examined and atmosphere of competition would be created in this field.
The Ambassador also spoke about the presidential elections in Azerbaijan to be held in October. "The United States will allocate to Azerbaijan $3mln to assist in the upcoming elections," she said.
Derse said that this assistance would not be allocated to support interests of separate individuals or a party. "The sum will be allocated to develop democratic institutions and democratic processes in Azerbaijan," she said.
