Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 August / Trend / E.Babayev / Eldar Namazov, the head of the Public Forum 'For Azerbaijan' does not exclude that he will keep in force the decision to participate in the presidential elections. "My attitude towards the presidential elections has not changed and I consider the elections process as a square for struggle," Namazov, told Trend on 4 August.
The presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan on 15 October. In July, three opposition parties, including the Popular Front, the Liberal and the Civil Development, which is united in the Azadlig bloc, and the Classic Popular Front party decided to boycott the presidential elections. The ruling New Azerbaijan Party nominated the current President Ilham Aliyev at end of the last week. The parties of Musavat, the Civil Solidarity, the Democratic and the Great Establishment refused to participate in the elections with own candidates. The candidatures of Mais Gulaliyev, the chairman of the Greens Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, the chairman of the Azerbaijani Unified Popular Front Party, Hafiz Hajiyev, the chairman of the Muasir Musavat party, Fuad Aliyev, the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party, and Igbal Agazade, the chairman of the Umid Party, were officially nominated for the presidential post.
Namazov said that the situation has changed since he had taken the decision to participate in the presidential elections. "It is necessary to assess the new situation. The present situation is under discussion. We will continue to consult with persons and political forces, who are holding the same view. I will take a final decision on 9 August," he said.
