Iranian Parliament Approved Powers of Ministerial Candidates

Iran, Tehran, 6 August / Trend corr. R.Azadbakhsh/ On 5 August, representatives of Iran's Supreme Council approved Ali Kordan for the position of Minister of Internal Affairs, Hamid Behbehani for the position of Minister of Transport and Shamsaddin Hosseini for the position of Minister of Economy, who were presented by country's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the Parliament on 30 July, Iran's news agency IRNA reported.

A total of 183 members of Iran's Supreme Council voted for, 51 against Hosseini and 37 abstained; 219 members voted for, 29 against Behbehani and 23 abstained; 169 members voted for, 69 against Kordan and 36 abstained.

Last week, Ahmadinejad sent a letter including the names of Hamid Behbehani, Seid Shamsaddin Hosseini and Ali Kordan to the Speaker of Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani for consideration at the Parliament.

Ali Kordan and Hamid Behbehani are close to the governing Usulgara coalition's wing criticizing the government. Shamsaddin Hosseini is close to the governing coalition's wing supporting the government.
